Side II - The Mechanism

Two faces.
One truth.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was born in 1931 on the polo fields of India - a watch built to flip, to protect, to conceal its most precious face from the violence of sport. We inherited that duality. What is presented publicly and what is held for our client are two separate faces of the same mechanism.

The Ninth Meridian operates on this principle: visible to none, available to one. At any moment, we serve a single client as their exclusive meridian - the line through which all intelligence, access, and acquisition flows.

Like the Reverso's movement invisible beneath its face, our infrastructure - the Observatory, the Atlas, the Meridian Desk, the Archive - operates in silent precision behind a single point of contact. Hover the watch to see the other side.

Origins

Eight players.
One collection.
One standard.

We were eight polo players rotating a shared watch collection - a private trust built on the understanding that objects of genuine rarity are wasted on a single wrist. On the field, rotation is instinct: the horse cycles, the chukka ends, the line shifts. So too with serious timepieces. A Patek left unworn depreciates in spirit before it does in value.

From this rotation, a protocol emerged organically. Provenance was verified. Condition assessed to a standard no retailer would bother with. Acquisition intelligence circulated among the eight. We became, without naming it, a private sourcing intelligence network - the clients being ourselves. Then the calls began. "Where did you find it?" "Can you find me one?" The model was born from necessity, not ambition.

"We don't find watches. We become the meridian through which one person - at a time - accesses the rarest timepieces in circulation."

A meridian is a line of longitude. It defines position absolutely. It does not negotiate. When you engage The Ninth Meridian, you don't receive a service tier or a catalogue. You become the ninth point on our line for the duration of the engagement. Every contact, every signal, every relationship cultivated over years - aligned to your single acquisition. When the piece is yours, the line moves. You keep everything. We disappear.

You Are The Ninth.

For the duration of your engagement, every asset, contact, intelligence line, and vetted relationship in our network aligns to your single acquisition. Not a client number. The meridian.

Four departments.
One precision mechanism.

Like the four bridges of a flying tourbillon, each department occupies its own plane - distinct in function, indivisible in result.

I. The Observatory II. The Atlas III. Meridian Desk IV. The Archive
Department I
The Observatory
Horizon Intelligence

Perpetually active. The Observatory doesn't wait for pieces to surface - it maps where they are before they move. By the time a reference appears anywhere publicly, we've already triangulated it, priced it, and assessed its authenticity from multiple angles.

  • Global dealer and private collector network - curated, not catalogued
  • Pre-market and off-market signal detection
  • Production context and reference scarcity intelligence
  • Auction house and estate relationships
  • Pricing normalization across conflicting sources
  • Soft-alert system for wish-list matches before any listing exists
Department II
The Atlas
Physical Acquisition

Where the Observatory maps, the Atlas moves. Physical presence. Hands on the movement. In-person inspection at a neutral site with an independent certified watchmaker - never remote, never delegated, never at the seller's premises.

  • In-person inspection at neutral location only
  • Independent certified watchmaker on every engagement
  • Serial and reference validation against manufacturer records
  • Macro-condition grading - dial, bezel, case, lugs, polish history
  • Provenance chain documentation and ownership trail verification
  • Full Jewelers Block coverage from the moment of physical possession
Department III
The Meridian Desk
Your Only Door

One person. One number. Every update, every decision point, every piece of intelligence moves through a single dedicated relationship manager. No ticket systems, no rotations. The Desk absorbs the full complexity and delivers it as a single clear signal.

  • Single dedicated relationship manager for the life of the engagement
  • Printed Acquisition Dossier - reference significance, rarity context, pricing
  • Escrow coordination and complete transaction transparency
  • Phase-gate briefings at each milestone
  • Post-acquisition provenance portfolio - bound, printed, permanent
  • NDA-governed confidentiality from day one
Department IV
The Archive
The Skeleton Beneath

You'll never interact with the Archive directly. That is by design. It is the legal, financial, and compliance infrastructure that makes everything else possible at this tier. AML and KYC on every party. Watch funds in attorney IOLTA accounts. Cross-border compliance reviewed per jurisdiction.

  • Engagement Agreement and NDA before any sourcing commences
  • IOLTA trust account or Escrow.com - never personal accounts
  • AML and KYC on all counterparties, every transaction
  • Insurance across Chubb, Berkley One, and Jewelers Block
  • Cross-border import and export compliance by jurisdiction
  • Right of refusal: if provenance is legally ambiguous, we stop

Three phases.
One acquisition.

Each phase carries a defined cost, a legal framework, and a department that owns it. Nothing is ambiguous. That is the product.

I. SEARCH II. VETTING III. CLOSE THE NINTH MERIDIAN
I
Phase One - The Observatory and The Atlas

The Search

Upon execution of the Engagement Agreement and NDA, you submit your acquisition brief. The Meridian Desk builds the Dossier - reference significance, production context, rarity mapping, and live pricing intelligence from our verified network. The Observatory begins active signal triangulation immediately. We don't wait for the market to surface your piece. We move first.

Phase Two - The Atlas

The Vetting

When a candidate piece is identified, the Atlas is in the room. In-person inspection at a neutral site with an independent certified watchmaker. Movement authentication, serial verification, condition grading, service history. For pieces above $150K, premium cabin travel is standard - this is a security classification, not a comfort preference. The $9,500 covers both phases combined, all-in.

Phase Three - The Archive and The Meridian Desk

The Close

Funds are held in escrow - Escrow.com at approximately 0.89 to 1% for transactions above $25K, or through an attorney IOLTA trust account. The piece never touches our personal accounts. Upon release, it is delivered to you with the complete provenance portfolio. Commission is earned at close only. There is no incentive structure that benefits us before it benefits you.

$80K - $100K6%
$100K - $500K4%
$500K+2.5%

The standard is absolute.
Not a guideline.

Condition Truth

  • Polishing history disclosed in writing - every time, without prompting
  • Missing papers classified explicitly in the Dossier - no euphemisms
  • "Full set" claims verified component by component before any mention
  • Clear distinction between retail-ready, collector-grade, and investment-grade
  • Macro grading on dial, bezel, case, and lugs - standardized language only
  • Service history documented; every gap noted explicitly

Source Integrity

  • Every source is referral-backed, reputation-anchored, and personally vetted
  • Grey-market provenance requires complete chain documentation
  • AML and KYC on every counterparty, every transaction
  • No new sources admitted for supply volume - the network is curated
  • Off-market access maintained through earned trust: qualified buyers, clean flow
  • We hold no inventory - we cannot be incentivized to favor any seller

Legal and Financial

  • Engagement Agreement executed before sourcing begins
  • NDA governs all parties: you, the seller, any third-party inspectors
  • All acquisition funds through escrow only - never in personal accounts
  • Jewelers Block on all physical movement of any piece
  • Cross-border compliance reviewed for every international transaction
  • Right of refusal: provenance ambiguity stops the engagement, regardless of size

The numbers,
plainly.

Every cost is known before the Engagement Agreement is signed. Nothing added after close. That is a baseline expectation.
